Sara recently requested some photos of my new Classic Canvas *emera tote in action. For a better view inside an *emera bag, check out the video on their official site.

I tried to take some shots of what I’m currently toting around in it, but as you can see, that shoot was derailed by a rambunctious little furball.
Here’s a list of what I’m comfortably lugging around at the moment:
- Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
- Rolleiflex 2.8C
- Holga 120s
- Demekin 110 Fisheye
- Notepad for recording data on film shots
- Spare battery and 120 film
- Personal items: wallet, phone, keys, planner, etc.
And what I love about the Classic Canvas:
- The straps are much thicker than the rounded ones of the Quilted tote. This makes heavy loads feel lighter, and the straps don’t dig into your shoulders.
- The wide pouch that runs along the inner wall for carrying notebooks, magazines, etc. is removable as well.
- It carries just as much as the Quilted but is a few inches shorter. This is a biggy for midgets like me.
I still love my Quilted tote but it might be awhile before I pull it out of the closet again. The one thing I will say in favor of the Quilted is that the insides are an off-white color, which makes finding smaller items a lot easier than the black interior of the Classic Canvas.
I guess it goes without saying that I’m hopelessly addicted to *emera. And I’m so happy that all the money I spend on them goes to support an awesome designer.
Ladies, put this on your Christmas list!
Lens: Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Actions: Antique, Ground Glass, Simpler Simon
Available through K. Miller Actions.

And all that is not making it heavy? :O.. oh! I’ve been looking out on ebay for #2..
It’s quite the load but it isn’t TOO heavy. Especially if I’m shooting a lot – one of the cameras is usually out of the bag. Good luck with the ebay hunt! The Rollei 2.8C is awesome.
Oh my goodness, the last shot is so adorable! Do you record every film shot you take?
I do! Each page in the notebook represents one roll of film and the camera it was shot with. For each frame I record the subject, camera settings and lens used (if applicable), date, time, light quality and sometimes what direction I’m facing (North, East, etc). It’s pretty anal, but I freak out if I forget to do it!
It was especially helpful with my dive into medium format film, so I was able to look back at my notes and figure out what went wrong / what I did right.
that niffy, I recorded my studio setup recently with the lighting workshop.. not everything else since then.. I guess when you’re on the move there’s not really much time to jolt down it..
My mom used to do the same thing back when she was my age. She’d even write notations on her slides too. One of my favorite things to do was to go through her photo albums with all of her labels on top (thin white stickers) in which she titled each photograph and then read the white slip of paper off to the side. It was all foreign to me at the time, but I still remember that to this day.
ABOUT YOUR POST: I’m so sold on these suckers. The plain canvas looks so good and frankly I’m amazed that you can fit everything in there. In the bag I’ve made myself I can’t fit everything I’d like to.
Also, Franny is all ways adorable and your hair is getting SO long. When the crap did that happen?
Awww, that’s so sweet! My mom’s a painter primarily, so I didn’t have anything more than family photos to thumb through. I would’ve loved to have had a shutterbug in the family growing up.
Wanna know the craziest part about my hair? I’ve actually been cutting off an inch here or there these last few weeks to keep it healthy, so it was even longer about a month ago. :O
oh silly noob cat. hows felix doing? hope hes better!
Hahahaa. SO funny
I snagged the quilted one this past summer and adore it to pieces. It’s somewhat transformed into my full time school bag with that handy laptop slot. Unfortunately the Macbook + D90 does feel heavy but it sure doesn’t cut into my shoulders. This new model looks lovely!
Haha awesome!

hehehe, that last picture is too perfect.
i’m amazed how much you can fit in there!
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisdafox] He’s doing a LOT better. Not back to 100% yet but he’s gettin’ there.
vey lovely :)
oh man, I wish I had a kitten!!!
*random* I love the blur effect you’ve created in the second shot. Is that Photoshop action magic or Lensbaby love?
Thanks Bronwyn! It’s Photoshop magic – I’m trying out the Alien Skin Bokeh 2 plugin in lieu of a ridiculously expensive tilt-shift lens. I’m liking the plugin quite a bit!
Aww cute
Love your photos– they’re very inspiring. also, THANK YOU for the emera link. Been looking for a photo bag!
I like the light at the first one.
Felix and the magic bag. :)
