Breakfast 9-26-11
It’s been a super long time since I did a What I Ate post. To be completely honest the more routine my days got, so did my meals. Now that I’m self-employed and summer is over I look forward to spending more time in the kitchen yet again.
Lunch: 6-7-11
Last summer I did things like make Thai curry for dinner despite the fact that I was taking cold showers every evening. I vowed to eat smart this year and avoid foods that would only help increase my body’s temperature. It was the first official day of summer this week (not like that means anything...

Dinner 5-25-11
Turkey sandwiches with a bowl of kale + bean stew.

Lunch 3-10-2011
This last week was one big long adventure in pizza making. I tried out a great recipe for whole wheat pizza dough, a surprisingly simple but delicious tangy tomato sauce and then went to town with all my favorite toppings (smoked mozzarella, fresh sliced tomatoes, salami, basil, pineapple and purple onion).
Chipwich Island (Lunch 03-01-2011)
Doesn’t that sound like the most amazing vacation spot on the face of the Earth? Too bad it doesn’t exist. Or maybe it’s a good thing it doesn’t exist, since I just got way too excited fantasizing about a fictional island where sandwiches stacked with potato chips are an unlimited resource.
Brunch 1-12-2011
French toast with a glass of orange juice and a Cara Cara orange.
This morning was the first time I’ve ever made French toast. It was nothing fancy- just eggs, cream, vanilla and cinnamon with some sliced Dutch crunch bread. Franny certainly approved, though… I think.
The Poor Man’s Fill Light
Reflectors are one of the best tools in a photographer’s camera bag, but if you can’t afford one or are working with limited resources, aluminum foil makes a great stand-in.
In the photo above I just have a piece of foil that’s been re-used a hundred times hanging off a chair.
Dinner 6-28-2010
Earlier this summer, Sparky’s had a string of daily specials to celebrate their 10th anniversary. I was excited– you could get a large one-topping pizza for $5.99. FIVE NINETY-NINE! But then my spirits deflated when I realized Sparky’s doesn’t cater to the gluten-free diet, so the likelihood of me enjoying a cheap pizza was shot....
Lunch 12-19-2010
The other day I had some great spur-of-the-moment fusion food. It looks a tad boring in the photo but I assure you it was bursting with flavor, and my nose was running before I was even halfway finished.
It happened like this: Chris was heating up some beans and rice.
Lunch 11-9,10,11-2010
No, your eyes don’t deceive you and that isn’t a typo – I had this for lunch three days in a row.
See, I recently ate at Costello’s Travel Caffe for the first time and split a prosciutto and Havarti panini with Ben.
Afternoon Snack 3-12-2010
Asparagus sauteed in butter, garlic and parmesan.
I think this may’ve been the last time I had asparagus. It’s one of many foods I slowly coaxed Chris into liking over the years, and I always forget that it’s “safe” now. ;)

Lunch 9-28,29-2010
Despite my recent food freezing kick (did you know you can freeze croissants and they’ll thaw out in the oven just as flaky and delicious as the day you put them in?! Remarkable.), I’m generally not a huge fan of frozen pizzas.
