Our New Bundle of Fluff

As I mentioned yesterday, I brought home a little sister for Felix. She is a rambunctious little love bug! Currently her favorite things to do are curl up in our laps and purr up a storm, or bat with the blind cords for what feels like hours.
I got her from Oregon Humane when I went in to meet a different kitten that turned out to not be at all what we wanted. I met with her and instantly fell in love with her best-of-both-worlds playful and affectionate personality.
I always dream about having some crazy beautiful kind of cat, like a British Shorthair or a Bengal, but in the end my personal history has proven time and again that I’m a huge sucker for your good ol’ tabby cat. Hey, someone’s gotta love ‘em, right?!

It’s kind of a gross day in Portland so the light isn’t that spectacular in our apartment. I promise more updates in the days to come, of course. :)
We haven’t named her yet but we’ve got a few ideas (and suggestions are always welcome). Chris has a “thing” about giving his pets human names, so anything over-the-top is out. I learned this the hard way when we got Felix and I wanted to name him Lord Nibbler.

Of course, Felix is currently doing the whole threatened-bully act, with lots of hissing, a little bit of growling and a few punches have been thrown here or there. But the new lady isn’t fazed one bit. Heck, she just got out of juvie! Despite occasionally getting cornered into a room or under the bed, she doesn’t seem scared of Felix at all and even returns the hisses. She’s pretty tough.
Clearly, once the obligatory hissing contest is over, they’re going to be great friends.
Chris wants to start a betting pool on how long it’ll take before we get a picture of them sleeping together. Anyone care to throw out the first bet?

She is absolutely adorable Kim! Congrats on you new family member! I’m probably not the biggest help for name suggestions because Damien and I dream of naming our cat Boba Cat or Blooper lol. I would like my bet penciled in at twelve days…I’m probably going to lose because I’m not sure how long Felix can hold a grudge. Anyways, she’s a cute. Now I’m dreaming of kittens, if only our $500 pet deposit could lower. <3
I bet in 2-3 days he will be less mad and in one week they will be in love like my gay boys.
also she is SUPER cute and I love the markings on her body! :)
aww, nice! so glad you found her / she found you! :)
I absolutely love her.
so happy for you, kimmy!! (and chris!)
Herman and George are brothers and they STILL don’t sleep together…good luck!!
She is SO cute…Give ‘em a couple weeks and they’ll be playing for sure!!
Aww! I had two cats in high school who were brothers and they never did, either!
Oh my gosssssh! She is soo adorable!!! I can’t wait for more photos of her and Felix as they (hopefully) become BFFs! :)
This post is so full of WIN! I love it! PS: I love the name Lord Nibbler for Felix.
aww she’s so cute! and what a trooper to hiss right back at felix. i’ve been taking care of a stray tabby too, they can be the sweetest things.
Congrats to your new baby girl – she is adorable!
(How about caling her Fiona..? Felix & Fiona… has kind of an Bonnie & Clyde-feeling)
Hoh-mai-goodnesss-hoh-mai-goodnessssss…..
Yipes! Felix’s fangs are frightening in the last photograph!! My guess is 8 days (that they will be napping side by side), just because it’s a nice even number. As far as names… Hmmm… My boyfriend suggested Flipflop. I like Filippa.
LOVE the yawning picture… too cute!
Aw, she is adorable! My bet is 2-3 weeks.
PS. What is that graphic novel called?
It’s the complete Sandman series – which is why the book is so massive!
Congrats! She does look like a sweet little love!
What a cutie! Adorable :)
And Lord Nibbler is the best name ever haha :D
hello kim..
i love your panis rahl action..
but i can’t get the same effect like yours..
any tips of using panis rahl action?
do i need to alter the original picture? maybe adjust the level or just touch the adjustment layer only?
need your help :)
Hi Dabuldahi! Thanks for your message. This post is about a year-and-a-half old so I’m not positive, but guessing by the notes at the bottom of the page and the look of the photos I’d say that Panis Rahl was only used on the very first image. Simpler Simon (from Chunfen) was likely used on the rest of the color photos. I do recommend using Panis Rahl on slightly overexposed images with a lot of darker tones (like a grey/black cat :) to produce the best results. And if the effect is too strong, try switching to Darken Rahl, which is a “lite” version of Panis Rahl.
Hope that helps!
