Irving Park At Night
I was walking home from the grocery store three nights ago and cut through the soccer field in the park. Suddenly, I stopped. I looked around. And then the next thing I knew I was taking the biggest, fastest steps I could to get home to my camera. Which, as it turns out, aren’t all that big when you’re 4’11″.
Both night photography and wide angle lenses are so beyond my comfort zone, but the last couple of nights Portland has had this thick blanket of fog roll in during the early evening. The second time — Sunday night — I was on a photo walk with Brianne with my new F100 and I didn’t stop shooting, even after the sun went down. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything turns out, though at 1/15 shutter speed I ain’t holdin’ my breath.
And now for something completely different!

…I’m just waiting for a zombie to pop out from behind one of those trees!

We’ve had some intense fog here too but only in the mornings. Funny how that works, huh? But I actually shivered when I saw these. My favorite is the second from the last, I think. (It’s a tie between the first three and the one of your shoes.) So I guess that means I really like them all. =P
Amazing! During the mornings we get some intense fog on the roads here. I try to make it out of the door in time enough to shoot some photos before work, but I fail every time. Today I was [] that close to shooting some shots, but I chickened out. One of these days it’s gonna happen.
I love the half and half light that occurs in the second photo.
Thank you! For me, evenings are so much easier to capture, if only because they happen during hours when I’m normally already awake. :P
Yeah, the fog has been CRAZY. These shots are so lovely: looks like a movie set with crazy lighting!
Love all of these, some are eerie. But all are beautiful!
Dude.
Dude.
These are great.
Good on you for stepping out of your comfort zone. I love the way these turned out, and don’t worry, 1/15 is totally doable with a wide enough lens. Great shots! Really digging the spooky vibe, as well as the mixture of different light sources in these frames.

These are killer shots! The colors and fog are beautiful. The second one ifs my favorite I really like the “warm to cool” contrast between the different color street lamps
