A few weeks ago I picked up a banjo for the first time and it was love at first pluck. I immediately went home and looked up chord charts, watched YouTube videos, and even posted a picture of a banjo cake on Chris’s Facebook wall. HINT, HINT.
Friends and family have officially declared me to be in a state of “Banjo Crazy.” Well, yesterday my bum-ditty-dream came true when Chris and I went on a magical Trimet adventure to Powell to buy a banjo from a very nice lady who happens to be in a very nice band- Great Wilderness. You might’ve heard of them… They’re kind of a big deal. ;)

She’s a beaut, to be sure! And if you feel so inclined, you can watch a very silly (and not amazing at all) video of me dinking around with a different banjo I had borrowed from the Harlowe dudes.

So pretty! And check out that case! My case is falling apart so bad I’m scared to use it. lol By the way, you sound much better than I’m guessing I will on my first day. It’s actually, you know, musical!
Awesome! You’re amazing. I love this blog :)
DUDE that video was SO CUTE! I love the YUSS picture and err’thang. I can’t believe that’s your first day with the banjo — soul mates fo’ sho’.
What a stunning instrument! The case looks gorgeous too!
On a completely unrelated note, I’m moving to Portland in a month or so, and I’d love to meet you at some point!
Awesome! I think banjo is one instrument I’d like to learn to play, too. And love the video.. you actually seem like you’re doing pretty well in it!
Wow, that’s a beauty! I love banjos and actually just saw a YouTube video of Taylor Swift playing and Ellen DeGeneres joined her on stage during one of her concerts in LA—they all proceeded to have a “front porch” style hoedown for one of her songs, a lot of fun!
But for your first day you are going to do so well! I’m jealous. I never learned to read music and have never played an instrument. My music teacher in elementary school was a witch. HA!
Looks great.
I love your slideshow page header and your matched title with the lotus.
Don’t forget to have fun using a Circular polarizer. All the wood grain is hiding. The varnish is reflecting all your keylight. I got one CPL at 82mm (my biggest lens) and then use step filters for each of my lenses (77mm, 72mm, 67mm, 58mm.) Plus its stackable with an ND8 (I can’t ind a ND10 here)
