Minimum Day
On slow days at my job I’m always the first to volunteer going home early. Mostly I get sent home around 10:00AM, 7:30 at the absolute earliest. Last week I scored a new record, though: 5:15 AM. Did I mention our shifts start at 5:00? It was nice riding my bike through the park as the sun came up, something I can never get myself to do on my actual days off when all I want to do is zzZZzZzZzzz.
I got the best of both worlds on that day, though. I happened to have my Rollei with me on the way home from work, and after a quick nap I returned with the full camera cache in tow for the 6 o’clock hour.
Shooting at sunrise is a good way of training myself to be quick. I’ve got a bad reputation for taking too long to set up what would otherwise be a quick snap. The light changes so fast at that time of day, it’s do or die.

gorgeous lighting! i don’t think i’ve ever shot at sunrise. i love that graffiti, too. it’s kind of meta. or something. my favorite was seeing a spray painted one that just said, “meh.”
Hahaha! I’ve kind of fallen in love with graffiti lately. I’m not really into Banksy style graffiti-art, but seemingly random tags, they fascinate me for some reason. I would love to come across a “meh” someday. That’s just perfect!
I love you.
ILU2.
I forget sometimes that your shifts start so early! Sometimes I think I’d hate that, but then again, you’re done with work before most people are even halfway through their shift, so that must be nice. Lovely pictures as always, of course.
You know, at first I really enjoyed it and fell into the trap of thinking I got more out of my day, but I’ve come to learn that isn’t really true at all. I get more out of the LITERAL day, but I still get the same number of hours in my relative day – as in, I wake up earlier and get work out of the way, but by 5pm I’m wondering what’s for dinner and heading for bed not long after. Not so bad in the winter when it’s dark 24/7, but in the summer time it stinks!
nice
The “I did this” is AWESOME. I wish that were *my* graffiti tag!
Dude, I KNOW. It’s in the park next to the tennis courts – I’ll show you next visit. Of course I shot it on multiple cameras, too. Between that, “TEM COCO” and “GAT DAM!” there is just way too much awesome graffiti in my neighborhood.
Nice moniker btw. ^__^
That “I did this” is a beautiful, beautiful photo.
And can I just say that I am so jealous of your meat-on-a-stick experience?
